We’re currently in a series for lent called ‘A Pilgrimage of Grace’ led by Derek .
Our teaching is mostly based on the scriptures and themes from the 3-year cycle of church calendar. This provides a wide base of old and new testament teaching. We usually encourage discussion and input from those present during this time, rather than simply a monologue from the front.
In 2017 we took several months to look through the book of Acts.
It was an exciting journey as we looked at how the early church unfolded.
In studying these stories we explored what this means for us and our story as a parish. Our script is not fully written!
Earlier in 2017 we at St Hilda’s we led a teaching series for four weeks called ‘with’.
We will explore five prepositions to explain the different ways we position ourselves with God. In this model, we can live ‘under God’, ‘over God’, ‘for God’, ‘from God’ or ‘with God’.
The material is sourced from a US author, Skye Jethani.
In 2016 we took a thorough look at the book of Nehemiah. This series took us through a surprising amount of relevant material for our own situation. It came from the obvious reality of needing to rebuild our front church wall due to earthquake prone status, but took us through a wealth of good material.
